Use the PasteQ iPhone Keyboard for Saved Text
Tap a saved reply, email address or text snippet to insert it into the current field. The PasteQ keyboard shows text from Pin and enabled custom groups in input fields that support third-party keyboards. The same setup steps work on iPad.
Need the app? Download PasteQ from the App Store.
1. Prepare Your Text
- Open PasteQ on your iPhone and add a text record to Pin or a custom group.
- If the text comes from your Mac, follow the multi-device sync guide and confirm that the record appears in PasteQ on your iPhone.
- In PasteQ, open Settings → Keyboard Quick Input and enable the custom groups you want to use. Pinned records are always included.
2. Add the Keyboard in iPhone Settings
- Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
- Tap Add New Keyboard… and select PasteQ.
- You do not need to enable Allow Full Access for the PasteQ keyboard.
3. Switch Keyboards and Tap to Insert
- Open an input field that supports third-party keyboards, such as a regular text area in Notes.
- Touch and hold the globe key and switch to PasteQ.
- Select Pin or a custom group, then tap a text record to insert it.
If tapping does not insert the text, you can also touch and hold a record to copy it, then paste manually in a field that allows pasting.
What Can the Keyboard Insert?
- Text, links and the plain-text content of rich-text records in Pin or enabled custom groups.
- Images, files and encrypted records are excluded. Rich-text formatting is not preserved.
- Each group shows up to 100 recent eligible text records. Long text is truncated; open the PasteQ app to view and copy the complete record.
- Secure fields such as password fields, some specialized fields and apps that disable third-party keyboards may not support PasteQ.
The iOS keyboard does not collect clipboard history from other apps in the background. See Getting Started for Mac history and source identification.
Why Is New Text Missing from the Keyboard?
The keyboard reads local content updated by the main app. When the main app is not running, it shows the last updated content, so text just saved on your Mac may not be available yet.
- Open PasteQ on your iPhone. For content from Mac, let iCloud sync finish first.
- Confirm that the text is pinned or in a custom group enabled under Keyboard Quick Input.
- Allow the content to update, return to your input field and switch to the PasteQ keyboard again.
- If an item is still missing, check whether it is encrypted, an image or a file, or outside the group's display limit.
If PasteQ does not appear as a keyboard at all, check that it has been added to the system keyboard list, then try a regular text field. See the FAQ or contact us for more help.
